I’m sorry I know this is probably supposed to be a mocking gif but HIS FACE during this part when he was realising what was actually happening to him was so perfect.

On how Jason Schwartzman got the role as Max Fischer

Wes Anderson: Jason Schwartzman we found after a long, long search. We spent over a year trying to cast this part. We looked into all these different schools, and we looked in England and Canada..and he actually lived in Los Angeles. He’s from a movie family, his mother is Talia Shire, his uncle is Francis Copolla and he has the exact opposite background from what I was expecting and he’s physically completely different from what I imagined. But the second that I met him I thought that he’s something completely different from any other people that I’ve met and he’s the best that we’ve seen. Owen Wilson: When Wes and I was writing the movie, I think the kid that we had in mind was this kid from Flirting, he was also in Shine..I imagined a kid like Wes, kind of a very thin, pale kid who look a bit like a young Mick Jagger, slightly kind of uncooked look, and Jason obviously doesn’t look like that but when he came in and did a reading it was funny because it was so different from the way Wes and I imagined the role physically, but he could say the line so well and he was really smart, getting all the jokes and stuffs.Jason Schwartzman: [Wes] said when I walked into the room he instantly re-thought the look of the entire character, he thought it could be more Dustin Hoffman, which just means shorter.

Owen means Noah Taylor (who is also in The Life Aquatic), which is a bit odd because I actually used to confuse Jason and Noah, and yes this is despite the fact that as this quote points out, they don’t look much alike. I don’t know, it was a thing.

On how Max’s expulsion from Rushmore is inspired by Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson: This is a sad scene when Max is getting expelled. and I don’t like the day when I got expelled from St. Mark’s. It’s a sad day. Parents are very embarrassed, my mother has to come pick me up, my poor father was on the board of trustees…and his son got expelled from school. It was kind of tough for my poor dad, for the rest of the year having to go to that board meetings, the walk of shame. Although you would think that with my dad on the board of trustees, that would give me a bit of a pull, but it didn’t count for too much. or maybe it did…maybe I would’ve been kicked out earlier. If he hadn’t be on the board.
I was expelled from St Mark’s for cheating in geometry, actually there’s also another… I wouldn’t name names….it wasn’t just cheating. I was just a trouble maker.
Wes Anderson: Yeah I think the way that story goes, the way owen usually tells it is that he refuse to name names. And then I guess they kind of broke him, and he did name names..and he just got kicked out anyway. We should’ve had that in the movie, actually. I’m surprise we didn’t.

I get the feeling this is not quite the whole story somehow. :-P

Day 13: Favourite scene in The Darjeeling Limited

Annoyingly I can’t find a clip of the whole thing together, but the entire scene with Patricia in the nunnery.

“You’re talking to her. You’re talking to someone else; you’re not talking to me. I don’t know the answers to these questions; I don’t see myself this way…”

07) Favourite character in The Darjeeling Limited
I’m going to have to cheat because I’m not sure how I’m supposed to choose here!

Cuss Yeah, Wes Anderson: Stuff You Didn’t Know About Wes Anderson:

cussyeah-wesanderson:

  1. Yellow font is used in most openings except The Life Aquatic
  2. Kumar Pallana.. thats the real name of Pagoda.
  3. Wes Anderson was roommates in college with Owen Wilson.
  4. Losing fingers is mentioned in both Rushmore (as to why the play had been canceled before) and Margot in The Royal…

Doesn’t everyone know no. 3? Or could work it out without much difficulty…

I knew all but two of these and I think I just forgot the one about the plane. I need to get out more.
